Ah yes... sorry, bad step transition

Actually it can be done step by step but I drew all in one step. If you notice closer, there is this dashed ------ line and this -.-.-.-.- dash-dot line. The dash is valley fold and the dash-dot is mountain fold. So after you pre-fold all the valley and mountain line, you simply collapse without adding any new lines and that is how you get to step 4.

I am drawing the diagram using illustrator now, still not complete but it is much clearer than my hand drawn diagram. I'll upload later.
