Artist's Comments

This origami dragon was not meant to be complex or capture the accurate anatomy of a dragon. I simply wanted to make an origami dragon that is elegant and has a strong dragon look.

The name simple represent the model, not the folding steps :D

Folded from a 15cm square japanese foil paper then painted using tamiya paint, flat red.

I'm still in search of the real dragon :D

Well, not as simple as it might looks at first sight. Great proportions. It looks so... clean :)

Maybe the face is a bit too bird-like, rather than a lizard one...

Anyway, :thumbsup:

Thats really cool. I love it :)
Its at least as good as a complex dragon, as with this you can appreciate the model as a whole more. Or thats what i think anyway

Thank you :D Yes it meant to be simple in appearance so that it can be easily seen as a dragon. The head is actually the most difficult part to fold of all because those horns are from inside the paper. The prototype model has a head that looks like a bird so I insisted on adding horns to make it more dragon like.

Yes, the face is still a problem. I have improved it by adding 2 horns from the initial hornless head dragon.

Full view for the close up of the head. The shadow on the head make the eye socket apprear :D

The horns look good, but maybe if you folded the beak into a mouth... (I mean a simple zigzag fold to make the lower jab)

i love the top picture the most! it looks as if the dragon is looking over a village about to be burned :flame:
i like the face that way! most dragons got kind of beaked mouth covering the lower jaw. so yes, i think it's perfect and it's definitely clean.
will the diagram be easy (like all square proportion? i got bored with the golden rooster, hehe)?
